Disable Unwanted Windows Effects
Right Click on Desktop and select Properties, Choose Appearance in Desktops Properties Window, then Effects, Uncheck the following Effects:

Optimize Windows Visual Setting
Open My Computer Properties Dialog Box ( Win key + Pause Break ), ChooseAppearance -> Setting tab in Performance field.

- Show window contents while dragging.
- Use common tasks in folders.

Optimize Virtual Memory Pagefile Size
Open My Computer Properties Dialog Box ( Win key + Pause Break ), Choose Appearance -> Setting tab in Performance field then Advanced -> Change under Virtual Memory area.
In the middle of the screen, select the "Custom size" button and enter a number that is 1.5 to 2 times the amount of physical RAM in both the "Initial size" and "Maximum Size" box. -> OK.
Clean Unwanted Data
Open Disk Cleaner
Start -> Run, Type, "cleanmgr.exe" then OK.

Open Folder Option
Start -> Control Panel -> Tools -> Folder Options -> View.
Now un-check the following unwanted option:

- Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color.
- Show pop-up description for folder and desktop icons.

Other options don't affect the system performance. You can enable/disable them according to your requirements.
Disabling of Unwanted Sounds
Open Sound & Audio Devices
Start -> Run, Type, "mmsys.cpl" then OK.
Now Select "No Sound" in Dialog box,
or you can enable your few of the sound like Exit Windows, Start Windows, Windows Logoff, Windows Logon
Optimize Windows Boot Time
Open System Configuration Utility
Start -> Run, Type, "MSConfig" then OK.
Under the Boot.ini Tab reduce the Time From 30 sec to 3 sec, and
Under the StartUp Tab Disable all the Unwanted StartUp Items To Reduce the Booting Time.
Remove Unwanted Fonts
Open Fonts Folder.
Start -> Run, Type, "Fonts" then OK.
Delete All The Unwanted fonts Which are not for your Business.

- Computer Browser
- Distributed Link Tracking Client (If you have NTFS partition, then don't disable it)

- Remote Registry (Always disable it for Security purposes)

- System Restore (If you don't use System Restore)

- Uninterruptible Power Supply
- Upload Manager
- Wireless Zero Configuration
NOTE: Always set the service to MANUAL, never disable it, so that whenever Windows needs to start a service it can easily start it, Inspite of showing any error message.
